The Caskey Center for Biblical Text and Translation is pleased to welcome Dr. Tracy McKenzie as Senior Research Fellow for Old Testament. Dr. McKenzie currently serves as Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at SEBTS, where he has taught since 2005. His research concerns how the relationships of texts within the Old Testament itself contribute to an understanding of their composition and meaning. This interest follows the trajectory set by his dissertation at SEBTS, “Idolatry in the Pentateuch,” as well as his dissertation from the University of Göttingen, now published as History as Harlotry in the Book of Ezekiel, concerning textual growth within Ezekiel 16. He has published other articles, essays, and reviews. His most recent work, The Torah Mosaic: Introducing the Pentateuch in Its Complex Unity (Baker Academic), is due for release later this year. He and his wife, Beth, have four sons.
As Senior Research Fellow for Old Testament, Dr. McKenzie will supervise the research of our Old Testament associates in making suggestions for future revisions and improvements of several English Bible translations including the Christian Standard Bible and the Easy-to-Ready Version.
